Rodger,

I have had Achieve Planner on my PC for umm ... well, a long time! I keep starting and stopping and starting again and then recently I came across a video course that changed the way I started thinking about using your software. You see, my fiirst big obstacle was getting it all down on paper or whereever to begin to process it. I tried creating a project and adding tasks; didn't work for me. The video I mentioned had me perform an exercise called mind clearing. We were given an extensive list of mental triggers and asked to write down all of the tasks and such that we could think of. WOW! What a list. After that I started thinking about how I could get this information into Achieve Planner and started messing around with it again. I cam across the Quick Task Entry feature and my hope was answered. So cool! Then I came across this post. You are spot on target. Thanks for this great tool.

Yes, an account can serve as a "grouping" project that helps you organize related sub-projects together.

In this case, you'd be using that "project" as a folder rather than a real project.

Hi, I've been reading the first pages as well as doing the first 2 exercises (Defining three projects and capturing the tasks for them). I'd like to hear your opinion of how to adapt this to a CRM model. Would it be ok to see an account as a project????

<a href="#comment-73" rel="nofollow">@Laura </a>
I'll take a look at the way this is done. It's not alphabetical, it's based on an algorithm that takes into account the priority of the project (including all its parents) and whether the MVP flag is set.

Maybe the best alternative is to just allow you to specify the order you want to drop projects in?

I was not at all happy when I got to the part where you drop your project blocks into the calendar and I had to do it in the order that the software brought up the different projects. Is there a way to do it in the order that I prioritize the projects? I want to schedule time for my A-1 first, A-2 second, and so forth--it seems they came up alphabetically. So I just dropped them wherever and then rearranged them. Seems to be counter productive.

The distinction is there to help you focus on work when you are working. It just makes it easier to filter and hide the personal stuff when you are trying to focus on work stuff.

One thing that concerns me (about the Achieve Planner) is the categories of work vs personal. I am at home full time, homeschooling my son, assisting my husband with his sales work and ministry, and I am trying to get organized enough that I can work a part-time job from the house--so there is not a clear distinction between work and personal. It's all around me all the time. For instance, I need to keep up the house and start dinner at the same time as I'm teaching, and my husband calls at different times through the day wanting me to send an email for him or see if someone sent him one. (He won't use a Blackberry--he does not use the computer.)

I've begun reading this book, and I've purchased the courses for Time Management and Goals to Action as well. I consider myself to be fairly well versed in self-management techniques, but I'm always refining and looking to pick up something new.

I am about halfway through Lesson #2 in Get More Done in Less Time, and already I was inspired to clean up and rearrange my projects and tasks in OmniFocus. I reworded all of my project titles, reworded some of my next actions, and deleted quite a bit that I realized just wasn't important (and wasn't getting done anyway!). As a result, I already am more easily able to focus on what I actually have to do and what I actually want to do! I’m looking forward to going further with this book, and then I’ll start on the GTA course.
