Lesson # 5 – Do Step

Summary

In this lesson, you learned about the Do step in the productivity process. This is the most important step because this is where you take action and actually get things done.

You learned about the two main ways to work within Achieve Planner: structured work where you use project blocks and the Tasks tab to guide your work, and unstructured work where you have to decide the best tasks to work on as you go.

Structured work is highly productive and focused work on a single project for an uninterrupted block of time. It’s particularly effective if you use it for important, high-leverage projects that will give you significant returns on your investment of time and effort.

Unstructured work is what you do the rest of the time, when you are not working in a structured way.

You can also use a hybrid approach where you plan as you go in a more structured way using your time chart to help you decide when to work on different tasks (e.g., focus vs. buffer) and when to take your breaks.

Achieve Planner is flexible and provides tools to help you make the best use of your time whether you are working in a structured or unstructured way, including filters, context, the task chooser, and next action lists.
